Isn’t it time for an update?

Emo started in the mid-1980s (That makes me as old as emo! w00t) in Washington, DC with bands such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Last Wish, Beefeater, Gray Matter, Fire Party, and Moss Icon. Occasionally members would become extremely emotional during their performences, hence the term emo. Wikipedia says Dischord Records was the original emo label.
Not many of these first wave emo bands are around anymore, but if you’re really interested try googling them and I’m sure you’ll find something.
First off, this is only my opinion. I am not teh emo master! I’m just a music lover that doesn’t quite understand this whole new scene. What’s with the crazy fashions and attitude? Wasn’t emo supposed to be about the music? Emo is a term that’s changed tremendously during the past few years. What did it originaly mean? What is it now?
